A Swollen 3GS Battery - How I Nearly Exploded to Death
Meu Problema
My girlfriend's uncle gave us his old iPhone 3GS after it had been stowed away in a drawer for years after he upgraded his phone. The battery was inflated, so much so that it was pushing the logic board and screen out of the phone. So, I did what any man would do, FIXED IT!
Minha Solução
The repair wasn't too difficult until I started unscrewing the logic board from the case. The pressure from the battery actually snapped off a screw! Everything else was smooth sailing, though. Not serious problems with the repair itself.
Meu Conselho
If your battery is swelling, keep pressure on it when you are doing any sort of repair on your phone. Also, perhaps consider loosening all the screws on the logic board slightly, as opposed to removing one at a time.
Also, the iPhone no longer works. For details (and possible help), see "There is a problem with your iPhone" after battery replacement
