The phone was dropped and the back glass cracked and also damaged the battery, which was swollen.

The battery repair went smoothly. It took under an hour, including the time to separate the back glass from the screen.
Meu Conselho
Sometimes the batteries (the originals especially) can be a pain to remove from the phone. The adhesive is no joke. I use an iFixit iOpener to lay over the battery and heat up the adhesive, and then use an opening pick to pry it up. Slow, consistent pressure is the way to go.
