iPad Mini Wi-Fi Front Panel Assembly Replacement

Difficult

Meu Problema

The screen somehow cracked, starting about 1/2" from lower right corner. Small fragments in lower corner with large cracks extending to the left and up.

Minha Solução

Overall the repair followed the guide pretty well. The iOpener worked very well. The first time I microwaved it it didn't get too hot; I waited the 10 minutes then zapped it again. From that point on it was nice and hot. It is hard to get the suction cup to work on top of tape, so luckily I was able to put tape on the lower and right side where my cracks were leaving the screen open for the suction cup on the left edge. Because it was shattered in the lower right, the picks would run into a shard that was not coming free and wouldn't stick to packing tape. I used the spudger to pick out the broken edge. Once I got the edge pried up, I was able to slide the pick deeper under the cracked area. Be sure to leave the yellow plastic tape on back of home button and surrounding circuitry or put electrical tape across from home button to digitizer cable. My home button isn't working after the install, I think, because I removed this tape. New the screen doesn't have a white square inside the home button like original iPad Mini 2 had.

Meu Conselho

Use spudger or other plastic tool to pick out broken glass that won't submit to plastic picks. Be sure the back of the home button and circuitry going to lower right corner is covered with yellow tape (on new replacement screens) or black electrical tape, or you may have functionality issues afterwards.
