Background and Identification
This controller is made to plug into the regular Wiimote as an extension. It’s layout, for the most part, mimics one of it’s oldest predecessors, the Super Nintendo! It’s connecting cord is found at the bottom of the device. It features the same Home, Select, and Start buttons that the normal Wiimote has, as well as A, B, y, and x buttons. It also has a directional pad, dual left-right joysticks, L and R triggers, and two additional buttons next to the triggers, ZL and ZR.
The classic controller was made specifically for games on Nintendo’s Virtual Console, and can NOT be used with Nintendo Gamecube Games. It is compatible with some regular Nintendo Wii titles, as well as certain emulators.
Identified by the model number RVL-005.
The Classic Controller is 2.59 inches tall, 5.34 inches wide, and 1.0 in thick (in the body).
The Classic Controller is distinguishable from the normal Wiimote in a few ways.
The Wiimote is rectangular, and when detached, does not connect to anything. The regular Wiimote does have a single joystick that can be connected, but it is not a complete remote with buttons.
