Background
The Dremel 8220 rotary tool was released in June of 2012. This device comes with a 12-volt battery which has an improved run time when compared to the Dremel 8200. Some of the notable features are the EZ twist nose cap, which allows for quick accessory changes, and the variable speed capability which ranges from 5,000 to 30,000 RPM.
This device can be used for cutting, carving, cleaning, grinding among several other things. It is compatible with all of the current line of rotary tool accessories and comes with a two year warranty.
Identification
The Dremel 8220 is easy to differentiate from other models. The model number is located on the side of the device near the speed selector switch. It is much larger than most of the devices in the cordless series. It is also the only model that uses a 12V battery.
