Samsung Fold4 mic replacement question

Hi everyone! I have a question about the microphones used the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4.

At least one of these two microphones has a hissing noise (the phone was exposed to water), so I am planning to replace them. Both microphones are located on the main board.

I have some no-name microphones available (photo 3) that bought from Aliexpress. Judging by their appearance, all three microphones look very similar and seem to have the same contacts. However I am concerned that the two microphones on the Samsung board have different markings, which raises the question: what is the difference between them?

Can I replace both of the original microphones with the ones I have from Aliexpress?

I thought that Samsung microphones with the same contact layout were interchangeable but now I am not so sure. Ch@tgpt keeps giving me conflicting answers.

I found these part numbers although I am not sure if they are (needs to be verified):

3003-001267

3003-001269

I would really appreciate any advice or information.

Thank you!

You should avoid using random no-name AliExpress digital MEMS microphones if you are unsure of their internal specs, as they often differ in sensitivity, voltage, or frequency response.

Differences Between Board Microphones

  • Markings and Part Numbers: Different markings on smartphone MEMS microphones usually indicate distinct sensitivity ratings (measured in dB), operating voltage, acoustic overload points (AOP), or frequency responses tailored for specific tasks (like noise cancellation vs. primary voice capture).
  • Interchangeability: While many Samsung digital microphones share the same physical pad layout (often 3 or 4-contact land grids), swapping an incorrect spec mic can result in low audio, severe distortion, or persistent background hissing.

Recommendations for Repair

  • Sourcing Parts: Instead of generic parts, look for an exact Microphone for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 or verify universal OEM rolls matching the exact sensitivity (-37dB or similar 1.8V digital standards).
  • Water Damage: Hissing noise after liquid exposure usually means water or mineral residue permanently damaged the tiny acoustic membrane inside the MEMS package, requiring a total replacement of the affected component.

Thank you for your answer, Adam! What should I do in a situation where I can't find these particular microphones? I can find them in other countries, but at ridiculously high prices (around $8 each + shipping $10-20), and they aren't even available from the local MobileSentrix. Even if I search for "Samsung microphone" on their website, it only shows microphones for a very limited number of models. That's actually what made me think that Samsung microphones might be compatible as long as the pinout matches.

What do professional repair technicians usually do when the required part isn't available locally?

When a specific micro-component like a digital MEMS microphone isn't available through local suppliers like MobileSentrix, professional repair technicians usually bypass searching for individual loose parts and pivot to a few proven industry workarounds. Shops that do high-volume micro-soldering rarely buy individual $8 repair components. Instead, they buy strips or full reels of 50 to 100 universal MEMS components from commercial electronics distributors (like DigiKey or Mouser) or direct overseas supply brokers. When bought in volume, these micro-components cost pennies per unit.

@neross pin configurations (typically 4-pin, 5-pin, or 6-pin land grid arrays). If a microphone from a widely available model like a Galaxy S20 or S21 shares the exact physical layout and operates under the standard 1.8V digital standard, it can successfully be swapped onto your Fold4 board.
