Here is a step-by-step guide on how to replace the battery on a Vivo Y20.

⚠️ Disclaimer: Replacing a built-in battery requires care. If you are not comfortable using heat or handling delicate ribbon cables, it is highly recommended to take it to a professional technician to avoid damaging the screen or the motherboard.

Tools Needed:

  • New replacement battery for Vivo Y20 (Model: B-O5)
  • Hairdryer or Heat Gun (to soften the adhesive)
  • Plastic prying tool or guitar picks
  • Suction cup (optional but helpful)
  • Small Phillips screwdriver (cross-head)
  • Tweezers
  • Double-sided tape or battery adhesive strips

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Preparation

  • Turn off your Vivo Y20 completely.
  • Remove the SIM card tray from the side of the phone.

Step 2: Remove the Back Cover

  • The back cover of the Vivo Y20 is a plastic panel. You actually don't need a lot of heat for this model because it snaps onto the middle frame, but a little heat helps loosen the light adhesive around the edges.
  • Insert a thin plastic prying tool or guitar pick into the seam between the back cover and the middle screen frame (right above the SIM tray slot is usually the easiest entry point).
  • Slide the tool along the edges to unclip the back cover.
  • Note: Since the fingerprint sensor is built into the frame's power button, you can safely remove the back cover completely without worrying about ripping a cable attached to it.

Step 3: Unbolt the Middle Frame Shield

  • Once the back cover is off, you will see a plastic middle frame covering the motherboard and battery.
  • Use a small Phillips screwdriver to remove all the visible screws securing this inner frame.
  • Carefully pop off this inner frame. Be gentle near the power button area, as the side-mounted fingerprint flex cable is connected underneath this frame to the motherboard.

Step 4: Disconnect the Battery and Side Fingerprint Cable

  • Use a plastic tool to disconnect the battery cable first to cut the power.
  • Right next to it, disconnect the extension flex cable for the side-mounted fingerprint/power button to avoid tearing it when removing the battery.

Step 5: Remove the Old Battery

  • Grab the transparent/green pull tab on the battery.
  • Pull it upwards with steady, firm pressure to break the adhesive underneath.
  • Reminder: Never use sharp metal tools to pry the battery.

Step 6: Install the New Battery & Reassemble

  • Place the new battery into the slot (use new adhesive tape if the old one lost its stickiness).
  • Reconnect the fingerprint/power button cable and the battery cable to the motherboard.
  • Snap the inner middle frame back on and secure it with all the screws.
  • Snap the back cover back onto the phone until it clicks securely into place all around.
  • Reinsert the SIM tray and power on the phone to test it.
