I have a Sony VAIO and some big chunky external hard drives from circa 2003 (ZIP drives and such) and I'm hoping to get the files off of them. What cables/connectors/tools would you recommend I use? I have no reason to think the hard drives don't work, but I'm not sure the Sony VAIO will boot up. Thanks for any suggestions!

Most Zip drives were IDE so the easiest way to cover all types of drive connection types is to get a USB to IDE/sata adapter and connect the drives to any USB port in a working PC via the adapter (example only to show the adapter, there are a lot more online)
