Lines appeared in screen immediately after swapping battery

I’m hoping anyone could help me out with this. I recently ordered an ifixit battery replacement because I noticed the one currently installed was swelling. There were no issues with the display then. This was the second battery replacement I’ve done on this machine since 2012

After I received the battery, I powered off the lap top, and installed it as I have before. Only this time there was a single vertical line in the display that occasionally flickers and changes color. Then after troubleshooting for a couple hours another line appeared.

I have tried resetting the smc, the nvram, reseated the display cable, powered it on with the battery unplugged, and nothing.
