My thinkpad Won’t boot into windows 10

I was wondering if there is a way to fix my thinkpad that used to boot into windows 10. The reason why is that my computer battery is dead so it always has to be plugged in to turn on. And I accidentally unplugged from the outlet while it was on and now it runs windows 10 but the mouse will disappear and task bar and apps will disappear. All there is is just the windows wallpaper in the back ground. And I tried to do a fully restart and restore of windows 10 but nothing it works. But I tried it windows 7 and 8 no problem. But tried to do with windows 11 it just shows a black screen on it. So I was wondering if there is anything I can do to fix it.

Hi @nickwood16080,

What is the model number of the laptop as shown on the product information label on the bottom of the laptop, (include the Type - MT number)?

Just confirming that Win 10 is still installed on the HDD(SSD?) as you said it works OK on Win7 and Win 8 but not Win10 or Win11.

Re Win 11 it may not be compatible with Win11 therefore it won't install properly.

If Win10 is still installed if it is the 1st boot option, try the following:

Start the laptop and when it starts to boot into Win10, i.e. after successful POST, force stop the laptop by pressing and holding the Power button operated until the laptop shuts down. Do this three times in a row i.e. turn on → boot → force stop →turn on → boot → force stop etc.

On the 3rd attempt the laptop should boot into the Windows Recovery Environment menus. If it does go to Troubleshooting → Advanced → Startup repair and follow the prompts. Do not select Reset this PC because if you select the wrong option after this you could erase all your personal data as Windows will be reinstalled.

Did you try what I suggested, you didn't say?
