Where they are using a hot plate, us mere mortals use a heat gun. Just keep it moving and not hold it on one area for to long. The temp of 70 deg C is definitely something you need to release the adhesive,
While you work on your phone, take lots of pictures. Once you are done with it, take those pictures and create a guide for iFixit. That will help the next person that has the same problem as you do.
