My husband argues about this every time I use microwave. I tell him it’s a normal function of a microwave. He says ‘No’ and that I’m overheating the microwave and causing damage! What should I tell him?

What is the make and model number of the microwave oven?
Just asking as some microwave ovens have two fans.
One that is used to ventilate the oven as the heat and moisture from the cooking food can cause it to malfunction.
The other (depends on make and model) is a vent fan which is usually found in ovens that are over cooktops and it draws the air away from the cooktop when it is in use, again to protect the microwave oven.
The oven fan runs every time the oven is started (or it should) and should stay on until it is paused or has finished cooking and the vent fan is more thermostatically controlled so it depends whether it needs to be run or not.

According to the user manual for the oven:
"The electronically controlling system of the microwave oven has the feature of cooling. In any cooking mode where cooking time is above 2 minutes, open the oven door or stopping state, the oven fan will work about 3 minutes automatically to cool the oven for prolonging the life of the oven"
