Recovering Data for a Surface Laptop

My girlfriend’s operating system became corrupt on her MS Service Book 2 laptop.  It’s a very old laptop and she only cares about the data on the hard drive.  I tore it apart to get to what I was hoping was a removable SSD hard drive so I could use a NVMe reader to access her files.  It appears that the hard drive is soldered to her motherboard.  Is there anyway to remove the HD and retrieve the files?
