@vanderborg that will depend on the PMIC and how it is programmed as well as how the battery is programmed. If your battery heats up while charging through the charging port, connect a USB ammeter and see how much it actually draws from the charger. Commonly if batteries heat up it is the battery that failing/has failed. If the PMIC (PMI632 U1301) heats up you know that it is the charging circuitry. In your case, I would start by replacing the battery.
