GE SpaceSaver, about 15 years old, peeling paint, inner upper surface.

We noticed a small void in the white paint of the inner upper surface (about 1" long, and 0.25" wide. Is there a safe way to touch-up the paint? What type of paint? Is it toxic if bits of paint fall onto food? No electrical arcing is evident.
