Screen replacement for a Dell Inspiron 15?

I came across this Dell Inspiron 7591 2-in-1, and it works fine, the screen does work, parts of the screen's touchscreen capability doesn't work at all. The screen has some cracks, and some of the back-light is leaking through parts of the display, which looks horrible if the image shown is black. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement display? This display is a 4K display which makes me worried they don't make 4K replacement display's for this device. I could connect it to a external display, or just use it. The cracks are definitely noticeable especially if the display is showing a white image. But I'd like to use this laptop for work, and content creation on the go. If anyone knows where I can find a display, that would be great! And if anyone has a fix-it guide as well.

Hi @sargeantstechyt

Here's the service manual for the laptop.

Go to p.67 to view the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to open the laptop and remove/replace the display assembly.

Note: Whilst it is not shown in the pre-requisite steps for the display, I recommend that you disconnect the battery cable from the systemboard (see battery removal procedure - you don't have to remove the battery, simply disconnect it) before commencing the screen replacement to prevent any possible electrical problems from occurring during the display replacement e.g. tools accidentally slipping or screws accidentally dropping on systemboard etc. There is always some power on the systemboard even when the laptop is off. Think of the laptop as being in an extremely low power state when off and not that it is totally disconnected from any power. The power switch is not a power isolating switch. It is used to signal the BIOS/OS what the user wants. Remember to reconnect the battery cable last thing before closing the laptop ;-)

I think that the Dell part number for the 4K (UHD) display is 5R82W but I'm not totally sure. Search online using for Dell 5R82W to find suppliers that suit you best. Maybe contact them before purchase and verify that it is the one for your model. Here's an example just to show what it may cost and also how to help identify if it is the one.

@sargeantstechyt

I have no problems when clicking on the link. It opens with the webpage every time.

The one I linked is a 4K display (UHD = 4K)

Here's an image of the page with all the details.

Here's what I get when searching for Dell 5R82W

Hello jayeff,

Thank you for the reply, I figured the process for replacing the display would be almost that simple, just need to be careful with any ribbon cables, and such. The link you sent me for the display isn't a valid link, unfortunately. I am not sure why, but when I click the link I it gives me an error. I have searched in multiple locations for a replacement display, I am not sure if I would be able to find one in 4K UHD, but I can at least try! XD
