Quite new to phone fixing but really enjoying it and these guides are brilliant. I have a iphoneX with a damaged front mic but face ID working. If I replace the whole unit I would lose the ID. Which is easier to replace, the face ID chip or the front microphone? happy to buy a soldering plate and already have a soldering iron. Any advice welcome. Thanks for reading!

theres 2 different things need swapped over to a new flex cable for face id so the mic would be the quicker option but depends if the flex is damaged

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I'm getting two conflicting opinions on swapping the face ID. One is I only need to swap the flood illuminator (and proximity sensor) chip. The other is I need to swap the flood illuminator (and proximity sensor) chip AND the ambient light sensor. Do you know for certain which is correct?
