When I plug any pair of headphones in they work but only in one ear but if push down on the end of the headphones so they push up into the iPod towards the screen they work.
Its definattley not the headphones i have tried 5 pairs of different headphones and they all work normally on my computer and my friends iPod but not mine

WillieBoy, the contacts on the inside of your audio jack are possibly worn, or stuck. Try to insert and remove your headphones a couple of times in rapid succession. Also, get a can of compressed air and try to "Gently" blow out any dirt debris from the jack. Hold it upside down while doing so. If none of this works, you might have to replace the jack.
