Stuck logo after battery replacement

After replacing the battery using the iFixit replacement pack, my apple watch will not power on. The apple logo fades in an out and even fades to red intermittently. It will not power on at all without connection to a charger. Trying to reset (holding both buttons down) does not resolve the issue.
