My power button is broken. How can I fix it and turn my phone back on?
My power button hasn’t worked for the past half year. I think something must have broken inside over time, because it doesn’t “click” properly anymore, no matter how hard I try. Maybe the spring inside is broken, or something similar.
I’ve managed to go this long without turning it off, but last night I went to bed with a low battery and plugged it into a faulty charger, thinking it would start charging, only to find out the next morning that it hadn’t, and the battery had run dry overnight. Now I can’t turn my phone back on. I’ve tried several methods, like ADB Fastboot, but nothing works. It seems to me that the only way I’m turning this phone back on is to take it in to get repaired somehow.
Is that a possibility? I went to two ‘shady’ phone repair shops and both of them barely mustered a glance at my phone before deciding there was nothing they could do. I’m planning on going to a more reputable repair shop tomorrow, but I’m worried they won’t be able to fix it either. Are power buttons easily replaced/repaired?
I’ve tried using needles, pressing down hard enough to leave pockmarks in the button, but nothing works. There must be something inside that’s broken. Am I able to fix it myself? Will the phone repair shop be able to fix it?
Let me know if there are any other questions I can answer.
