My IMac does not respond when I press the power button. The only way I get anything is when I hold the power button while plugging it in then pressing it again. Yet, the fan spins but the second diagnostic led does not light nor does the mac boot. Tried clearing SMC but nothing.

It appears to be a power supply issue. Could you try replacing the power supply?

I have a 2007 MacBook Pro that had the same issue, and I discovered it was because it had no battery, and a low wattage power supply.
