Computer running too slow

I have a latitude e5530 running Windows 7 Pro with Intel Core i5, and it runs very slow. I start up the task manager, it only uses about 8% of the CPU on average. There is also something wrong with the speakers, there is usually either no noise or it is very faint. I put the volume to 100% and nothing changed. Is there a way to fix these problems?

Solução escolhida

Upgrade hard drive to SSD. This will improve performance.

Upgrading to Windows 10 would also spped it up. It is still a free update with legit W7, as far as I know.

I would especially think this with Task Manager showing only 8%. The old hard could possibly be ready to die.

What temperatures are CPU, etc.?

How would I be able to see the details you ask for? I can't find the CPU temp in the Task Manager

Do you know how to get to hardware monitor? it is a free software that can check temp, and other things etc.

Try cleaning the speaker. It helps with the noise. Take the speaker out of the computer, and brush off anything.

Well, since this is a 11-year-old model, you have to take off the motherboard and all to see the speaker itself.

And what about the slowness problem?

No, for the speaker. I forgot that it...

All Dells have a Service Tag (like a serial number) on them. For that model, it will be on a sticker on the bottom, possibly under the battery. If you can find it, write it down.

Then, go to Dell’s, website here: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/...

If found the Service Tag I mentioned, type it into the Dell website. This will give you all the system’s details, including how it was configured when it was originally built.

Regardless, all of the Dell software mentioned above can also be found on the same website, two tabs over. Or here: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/...

Finally, this is everything you’ll likely need to dial that Dell back in (also on Dell’s website) https://www.dell.com/support/article/en-...

To fix the fan problem try cleaning the fan and shooting some air at the whole thing and for the speakers try looking where the connect cause they could be loose

I fixed the speaker problem, apparently there was something wrong with my headphones. I used another set of headphones and the audio sounded as crisp as it used to.
