(HELP URGENT) Backlight not working on A1059 U2 edition

Guys,

I have this U2 Edition 20GB on which the display had working backlight but the screen was burned out. I tried changing it and still there’s no backlight. I tried restoring it. It didnt work. The seller gave me a replacement but stil that is also not working. But when he put that display in his normal 20GB A1059 ipod it lit up the backlight and had no issues.

Is the U2 edition has specific screen for 4G 20GB A1059?

One more question is the IPOD 4G 30GB A1099 screen compatible with A1059 20gb variant

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@johnwick90 “display in his normal 20GB A1059 ipod it lit up the backlight and had no issues” pretty good indication that the issue could be a backlight circuitry on the logic board as well as the wrong display. There are no schematics available so you will have to do some measurements of the components around the connectors etc.

No, those displays are not compatible. The A1059 is a gray scale and the A1099 is a color display. The connectors etc are different (wiring et al.). With that said you want to make sure that you have the right display for your iPod. Using the wrong display could lead to issues that you are describing.

I thought so. But my old display in U2 works fine it lits up the backlight. Now if i put the new display it doesn't work. However when the seller put the same display in his 20GB model the display had a working backlight

@johnwick90 remember that there is a color LCD and a greyscale LCD. If the screen you have is for a A1059 and you have a A1099 or vice a versa the screen will not work. It may be the right screen for "his 20GB model". So you have to start somewhere.
