Guitar not giving any sound after soldering

Hello,

I just soldered for the first time and strictly followed the instructions given by someone on YouTube and the PDF given by the vendor.

The thing is though..

It just doesn't make any sound when plugging into an amp.

Also tried soldering a different jack, but that didn't seem to fix the problem.

Please help asap

Update (26.07.2019)

Now the amp is playing some audio, but only the middle 4strings (no E/e)

And if I navigate across the strings only E/e make different vocals. All the other strings make the same vocals, regardless of what I do.

Hi,

The black wires are not properly soldered to the terminals.

There is no solder on the terminals.

When soldering you have to apply enough heat from the soldering iron so that the solder flows covering both the wire and the terminal. When complete you can still see the outline of the wire under the coating of solder

Here’s a video that shows how it’s done.

It is a slightly different type of terminal to the one you have but the principle is the same.

You have to be careful that you don’t apply too much heat and that the insulation on the wire starts to shrink back exposing the wire.

You can try and “tin” the terminal first, leaving the hole exposed, by just soldering the terminal without the wire inserted. Once you have a thin coating of solder on the terminal, pass the wire through the hole, bend it to touch the soldered part of the terminal and then solder the wire to the terminal. You’ll find that it will solder more readily and that you don’t have to hold the iron on for so long.

Did you try reversing the two black wires on the jack? Usually the wire that connects via the jack socket to the tip of the plug when it is inserted carries the audio and the wire connected to the sleeve connection is just an earth return circuit.

Where do the other end of the black wires go?

you show the two wires going into the jack then presumably going to the amp via the inserted plug and the yellow wire which looks like a connection from whatever is in the guitar to pick up the sounds from the strings.

Have you got a multimeter, using its' Ohmmeter function that you can use to test the black wires.

Did the pickup work in the guitar before you had to replace the jack or connect a new jack?

You probably reversed some wires and set them in the wrong place. It can happen in you have the wrong wiring scheme, or you forget which wire was were. It can happen, and there is nothing dangerous about that. You just need to change places the wires are.

It happened to me, too, and I initially thought it was because of the new guitar picks I got from ironageaccessories.com, but it was false. I did not connect the wires properly in some places, which was the reason for the error. The picks I got that time turned out to be more than good, and I still play them.
