Hi @LDuran Productions,

The seller wasn't offering a warranty or a guarantee then?

Since it is new out of the box, there is always the manufacturer's warranty which you may wish to look at.

I find that it is always preferable to pursue a repair/replacement through the warranty procedure if it is still within the warranty period before repairing it yourself. After all that is what the warranty is for.

It never hurts to ask and if the answer is no (for whatever reason) you are no worse off at this stage and will have to repair it yourself or pay for it to be repaired.

If the answer is yes, then you are in front as it will be professionally repaired (or replaced) by the manufacturer or their authorized agent, the warranty on the camera will still be applicable until it is ended (which may be a plus if something else goes wrong with it) and hopefully it will cost you nothing except time and inconvenience etc.

Hi,

It appears as though the backlight is not working in the LCD screen.

This could be due to a faulty backlight power feed on the motherboard, a faulty flex cable connection between the motherboard and the LCD screen or a faulty LCD screen.

The camera would have to opened and the fault further diagnosed as to the actual cause of the problem.

Was the camera dropped at all or did it get wet?

How old is the camera?

Research online seems to show that it is a newly released model. At least within the last 12 months.

If the camera was not dropped or did not get wet and if you’ve had the camera from new and it is less than 12 months old, consult the manufacturer’s warranty statement that came with the camera as to what you have to do to make a claim for a manufacturer’s warranty repair or replacement.

Can you still take pictures and download them to a computer and view them OK even though you can't "see" them in the camera's LCD display?

If so then perhaps all that's occurred is that the screen has been damaged and will need to be replaced.

If the camera is non functional then more likely it is a motherboard problem
