Will not power on

One day my tv was working the next day it would not turn on. I changed the batteries in the remote control. Nothing. I checked the cables. Ditto. I tried the manual power on/ off. No go. All the other devices plugged into the same power sources were all working. I chose not to purchase the annual service contract because I wanted to believe that this was a decent top of the line product that would last some time before needing servicing. That was a month short of two years ago. It won’t fit in my car and no one will make house calls. Is there anything I can do myself?

kstanley7411  ok you are between a rock and a hard place. Your series TV usually has a self diagnosis function which would get the RED LED to automatically flash an error code. Since yours does not I would think that this is a general power issue. Since nobody is willing to fix it, you may have to consider taking it into your own hands. You’ll have to disassemble the TV (removing the back of it at minimum and checking the power board. If you got a multimeter etc. You can do some measurements on the boards. Post some good images of your boards with your question so that we can see what you see. Use this guide Adicionar imagens a uma pergunta já existente for that. Important, you also want to let us know what exact chassis your TV is (should be on a label on the back of your TV). The general trouble shooting for the No Power situation looks like this

G is the power board

B is the main board

I have a Sony Bravia XR55X90J that just did the same thing right after the last update. My larger Sony Bravia updated fine but this one is totally dark. I can tell it is drawing some power as I get a slight light flicker in my apartment when I plug it in. Noe of the factory reset procedures work.

My set is about 17 months old and the same, I thought I was buying better quality so never got and extended warranties. After talking to Sony support they basically told me I was out of luck and gave me a list of service depots. I live in a small metropolis area with only about 500K population but would have to drive in about 100km either way to get near a service depot. It seems Sony is almost non-existent here despite charging such outrages prices compared to so many other brands. Next time it will be LG or RCA or brand X for less than 25% of the price.
