Shift button never works

hi i think this is a common prolem with the 2016 retina 12" macbook. the shift key almost never works unless i hit it a certain way or press extremely hard, and even then half the time it doesn't work. it is operational, just about 80% of the time it doesnt work, especially if i am casually typing. any fix? will try compressed air soon, just wondering if anyone has experienced this and found a fix.

edit. the key isnt 'stuck' like other reports. it has the same tactile feedback and doesnt seem to be anything necessarily wrong with it, just when i press it, it rarely registers.
