change the graphics card in my iMac 27 (Mid-2017)

Hello! Can I replace my graphics card Radeon Pro 575 4GB with a more powerfulRadeon Pro 580 8GB ? If so, how can I do this? I will be grateful for the instruction.

Sadly you can't swap out the GPU unlike the older 2011 models and older. From 2012 'Thin Series' use a soldered down GPU chip on the main logic board. Here is the teardown for the slightly older system for reference: iMac Intel 27" Retina 5K Display Teardown Jump down to Step8 for an over view of the chips on the logic board. Apple only did a slight upgrade to this system for the 2017 model.

It is a great pity that the graphics card can not be replaced :( But to replace the processor with the i7 and the replacement for the ssd remains possible?

While you could replace the CPU as well as blade SSD I would point out both are very difficult to get to as you need to fully remove the logic board as they are on the back side.

The other rub here is the limitation of the CPU socket and the custom SSD Apple uses which limit you on what you can use.

If you are planning on buying a new system I would strongly recommend you buy the faster CPU and the largest blade SSD drive model you can afford (no HDD). Then think about adding the HDD when the warranty expires. Use an external Thunderbolt drive for now.

I don't think recommending the highest iMac 5k CPU is a good advice. I know when one has no budget limitations choosing the higher specs model is the biggest temptation, but in this case it could be not a wise choice.. The i7 CPU in this model is a 91Watt TDI chip, while the i5-7600 (non-K) as like the i5-7500 is a 65 Watt class TDP chip. They will barely overpass 50W consumption even under 100% load). This gap makes iMac with i7 CPUs pretty loud and noisy with the fans spinning up quite often, since the (single) fan is still the same while the produced heat is way more. The sweet spot seems to be getting the mid tier i5-7600 , adding PCIe SSD and maybe the 8Gb GPU. If you are in the need of higher performances you better consider the iMac Pro. The best advice is ordering it with the PCIe SSD.

The stock blade hits an impressive 1400Mb/read and 2200Mb/write!

You can't replace, but you can add:

or

These are external adapters that ONLY work with Thunderbolt 3, which your computer should have.

@andrewafonso - Andrew - Good Point! The external GPU box Via Thunderbolt is a great way to push a second display.

The funny thing is that the adapters come with the Radeon Pro RX 580 8GB, and only will work with a 2017 iMac or Macbook Pro, so it is somewhat a perfect fit.
