Headsets only work for 5 seconds at a time

My headset(s) don't work. Sometimes they work for like 2-6 seconds. I've opened sound in the control panel but the headset isn't there. It only shows up sometimes when the audio is working. Right now it's just going off and on all the time. Yesterday it worked if i didn't move but now it's alot worse. I've also checked for viruses and there was nothing to be found. Switching to another USB didn't work either.

@nikolaio this "it worked if i didn't move" makes me suggest that you try another headset first to make sure that it is not your set that is broken. Then make sure that you have the proper audio driver for your Asus installed.

No other headsets worked either, they were not even registered. When it comes to "make sure your audio driver is installed" i dont know what that means. I should probably say that all the other headsets i tried which didn't work weren't usb headsets which mine is.

@nikolaio okay comparing USB and non-USB headsets to diagnose a fault is kind of comparing Apples to Oranges:-)

What OS do you have and have you checked the audio drivers in system settings?
