It will not stay on

I think that this is common with a a lens error. The problem is that something keeps the lens barrel from extending properly. This could be caused by and, dirt, and just a bunch of grime. Of course it can also be caused by a drop onto the lens barrel. Try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable. This may provide more power to the lens extension mechanism which could possibly then overcome whatever may hold the lens in.Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera. Try using an air can and blow between the lens and the casing. Look at the lens and see if it looks misaligned, or not concentric ,then try wiggling it while holding the lens down.
