i replaced my lcd screen in my 3rd gen when doing so i ripped the cable for the screen when it had a little rip in it the touch screen would only work part way so i replaced the screen plugged it in put it back together and nothing the touch part does not work at all any ideas

allan, right now we are making the assumption that the new screen works. Have you opened your iPod back up and made sure that all your connections are properly seated? Have you checked the data display cable to make sure it is seated properly on the logic board? Also make sure the touch screen cable connector is straight in the socket. If the touch does not work but the rest does, try resetting or restoring it through itunes. iTunes does recognize it ok? http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1827 is what apple has to say.
