Hi,

If your phone only works when connected to the charger, most probably the battery is failing to hold its' charge and will need to be replaced. Even rechargeable batteries have a life span.

Here is the Ifixit guide on how to replace the battery.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Active Battery Replacement

Here is a link to just one supplier of the battery. If this supplier doesn't suit you there are others, just go online and search for Samsung Galaxy S5 Active battery.

Is it safe to use my phone with a dead battery as it only works while charging?

por

@bsnsjhsje

If the battery is swollen then no, don't use it at all until the battery has been replaced and the old battery responsibly disposed of.

Otherwise you can use it but it sort of defeats the purpose of a "mobile" phone as it will be tied to a charger and a power outlet. Also if you do use it this way and the phone starts to heat up when using it then again don't use it etc

Hi @ Paul Huntet,

Try the following to check if it resolves the problem.

a) Clear the phone’s cache partition. Here’s a link that shows how to do this. Check if the problems are still there or not.

b) Try starting the phone in safe mode and check if the problems are still there or not.

If they’re not then a downloaded app is the cause of the problem.

The trick is to find out which one.

You will need to uninstall each downloaded app one by one and then test the phone in normal mode between each uninstall to see if the problem is still there or not.

When it is no longer there then the last downloaded app that was uninstalled was the culprit.
