Check the home button cable carefully. Did you use the same home button cable that came with the old screen? You should use that home button and transfer to the new digitizer. If you damaged any small component chips on the home button cable assembly it can cause this exact issue.

That is almost always a bad IC on the digitizer. Try a new digitizer and it should work. If not, then there is a chance you knicked or tore the power flex cable. The flex cable is dirt cheap to replace but does take some patience to get installed. Pay attention and take pictures when you are removing the old one.

The easy way to figure out which one is your problem, hold down the power button. If the "slide to power off" shows up, its the digitizer. If nothing happens or the screen goes dark, its the power flex.

Good luck

make sure you solder the IC chips onto the new LCD/Digi.

without that flex cable soldered onto the new display, the power button won't work.

It can be a little picky. If you already soldered it, try reworking it with a little bit more solder on the pads.

I've had many ipads come into me with this issue caused by another person or shop. Assuming this is not software related and hardware only, its's not a difficult fix. The power button/volume button connector is near the top of the logic board. If this connector is damaged leading to discontinuity, you are going to need a microscope to solder a new connector on (very time consuming and risky) . In this case, the previous service this person went to had the home button flex to logic board connector pulled off and almost her connector for the power button/volume buttons to logic board as well. The home button to logic board connector I have already replaced and works great. The plastic housing for the home button flex was melted by the previous repairer attempting to solder the part back on. The power button flex also looked a little scratched and the top of the connector was chipped, making me think that the previous person who worked on this had an issue getting the flex in. The flex just needed to be pushed in further into the connector as you can see and the flex didn't need replacing nor the connector. After this, I was able to get hers and others lock feature back and you should too.
