Asus F555UA XX129T Keyboard Issues Windows 10 Pro

Hi Guys, this has probably been asked before, but I have an issue with my laptop keyboard keys. My Model is the Asus F555UA I5 laptop.

When ever I enter the key D it either enters to the next line or gives a space and then enters the d. Also when I want to backspace it skips the last key entered and deletes the rest when I keep backspace in. When I tap backspace it skips a letter every time and deletes the letter infront of the last one.

My last issue is, when I press enter on the normal keyboard it highlights the complete row and then enters. I have to use the Numpad enter to enter to the next row normally.

I would really appreciate it if someone can assist me or maybe give me some advice.

I am running windows 10 pro 64bit.

Hi, Have you been into Control Panel > Language > Advanced Settings and see if any of the available options will resolve your problem, especially the restore default option? Or even the selected Language >options and view the keyboard layout to see if it is correct?

I have changed the language setting to English south Africa and US and checked the keyboard layout. All looks good there.

First thing I would do, Is lift out the keyboard and check your ribbon connection " it may not be completely seated". If that checks out, I would just go ahead and replace the keyboard. Sometimes when a keyboard has been exposed to moisture it does funky stuff, for example...Having it in a cold room or outside during the winter, then trying to use it right away. Anyway...you didn't mention a spill...So hope this helps.

Update (04/27/2016)

You said keyboard works with notepad without problems so I would suggest to check your language and region settings delete all selected languages and regions and make sure to select only English then test keyboard.

I doubt that the keyboard is faulty because the laptop is only 2weeks old. I checked something now. In notepad it works like it should. Maybe it's a setting of some sort or it might be a windows 10 issue perhaps? It happens mostly in office ie word, excel and outlook. And when i'm typing here on the forum.

Hi

Did you try to change any of the Key size settings in windows using the Font size settings. Basically Windows 10 hates it if you even try to change any of the Font sizes and I had my changed once and it almost ruined my whole Windows OS experience by just trying to change the font sizes. Even the setting for Clear Type if I tried to change it it really messed up the functionality of the Operating System. I would go back and change it back to default if you did change something.

I didn't change any font settings. What I noticed while searching for answers is that my Keyboard drivers are dated 2006. I uninstalled my drivers and I let windows install them automatically. Still shows 2006 drivers. Is there a way I can update the keyboard drivers? I have driver talent, but it says my drivers are normal and that there are no updated keyboard drivers. My laptop is the Skylake i5 and it has an extended keyboard that includes a numpad. if that helps.

I have Dell Inspiron N5110 it also has an extended keyboard that includes a numpad and windows 10 pro installed but keyboard driver is (Driver Version : 10.0.10240.16384, Driver Date: 6/21/2006) but it works perfectly, so i think it's not driver issue.

Hi Master, the difference is your Dell N5110 was released in 2011. The Asus F555ua was released in July 2015 when the first retail windows 10 build 10240 came out. I think it's a driver compatibility issue, but I might be wrong. I understand that they use Generic drivers for things like these, but how can a driver dated 2006 work on a machine that was released in 2015 if technology keeps moving forward. They couldn't cater for a machine released in 2015, which lets me believe that the driver is not 100% optimized for my machine hence the issues. Like I said I might be wrong.

Here is the link to the drivers for your Laptop.....

http://www.asus.com/us/Notebooks/F555UA/...

It looks like your Laptop includes a driver and hotkey utility, It's called ATK in the list.

- As far as Generic (old) Drivers... These are universal drivers and some newer hardware will work with drivers from back in the Windows 2000 days.

- If the drivers do not work, call support....ASUS even has a chat with a rep feature. ASUS has excellent support

- Also keep an open mind when it comes to anything electronic or mechanical...Any part or device can get passed QC that is bad, or can fail at any time.

Thank you for the reply. I have the latest atk package installed. Still the problem persists. It is just weird that the keyboard works perfectly in notepad, but not in office. I have tried office 2010 pro and office 2016 pro. What i also noted is when im using internet browser it works for a while and then the D key starts adding a space before the letter after a while.

Call ASUS Support and see if they have a fix or can fix it for you before the warranty runs out.
