Need to replace U9100, does this chip need programming?

I have a macbook retina from 2012 and the U9100 is probebly broken. Can I replace this chip with a new one out of factory or do I need a donorboard for this?

I guess it being a microcontroller that it needs programming. I'll order a new one from a donor board for aliexpress. I guess my question is awnsered.
