Occasional White Screen When I Move Lid
This is for a MacBook Core 2 Duo A1181
Screen goes bright white when I move lid--no visible sign of desktop items. Then when I close lid, reopen and wake, the desktop appears as expected. If I then move lid, the screen goes bright white again. Rinse, repeat (problem is easy to recreate).
BTW, desktop doesn't always reappear on resume, but usually I can get it to show up.
Some sort of cable issue? If so, what is the cable called? I heard of the “Inverter Cable” and read how to replace it (easily done, really), I just don’t know if this would be the cable I would need to buy/replace.
Thanks!

Boot up from your original system installation disk and tell us if it still does it.

don't have the install disk, sorry to say. and this seems more like a mechanical/electrical issue than a OS/driver issue to me

Jim, I actually believe this is a hard drive issue and booting from an external source will tell us that.

Humm. If the hard drive were having problems, then why would moving the screen cause the problem. I've tried moving the laptop as a whole and no issues. Also, if the hard drive were having problems, then how is it I would be able to access my computer, run programs, etc., without issue?
All that said, I'll hook up the laptop to an external screen to see if the problem persists. Then, perhaps, if problem does persist, it would point to a subsystem issues like GPU, hard drive, etc., and not a cable or screen issue.

There are 17 machines with the A1181 designation, can you be more specific?
