What is the name of the control board connector on my PS3?

While replacing my Cooling fan a piece broke off my motherboard to the control panel that controls the lights and the power and eject button(it's not the ribbon its the white piece with all the pins) . My friend can fix it i just need to know the name of the piece so he can attach it to the motherboard. Please help cause a new motherboard is something i can't afford right now.

Well . . . I'm confronting the same problem . . . I completed my 1st YLOD procedure & the PS3 functioned properly for one year. During my 2nd YLOD, only a few steps from completing the procedure, I realized during disassembly I removed the control board, ribbon cable, & the motherboard CN4010 plastic connector. I damaged the connector and a couple of the contacts while attempting to reinstall the connector . . . Has anyone identified a source to obtain this connector including the 10-contacts? I have a Technician qualified and capable of installing a new CN4010 . . . if only I could get my hands on one . . .

phoenixforce98 that connector should be reference designator CN4010 which is a FFC/FPC 10 point connector. Sony part number is 1-820-825-61 The fun part will be to try and find it. Best bet would probably be a donor board where you can harvest the part off.

Harvesting doesn't seem like a great idea seeing that the part seems so fragile to begin with. This isn't a common system/computer part you can get in a Radio Shack or Micro Center???

Nope, but may be somebody can guide you in the right direction. You will have to measure the distance between the contacts of the connector, that is the pitch (most likely a 0.5 mm pitch). Armed with that you may find a replacement.
