Are the digitizer touch screens for the Mini 3 & 4 the same touch screen as on the earlier 1 & 2 models other than the finger print sensors? (which is transferred over) IC connector and all? Or are they different completely. Mainly what I'm getting at is I have a few iPad Mini 2 digitizers here, can they be used to repair the Mini 3 or 4? Thank you!

I dont believe they are. I believe the mini 3 is a different digitzer than the two and on the 4 it might be different as well, but i could not find a part for it! Keep in mind on some of their new ipads like the Ipad air 2 and pro they are fusing the displays to the digitizer so it may be that way on the mini 4, hope this helps!

Thanks for the quick reply. Not seeing any Mini 4 digitizers out yet, why I asked. Aware of the Air 2 and Pro using "fused" screen.

I know for sure that the iPad mini screens for the 1&2 will not work for the iPad mini 3 because the home button on the 3 is not the same size as the 1&2. The iPad mini 4, I've not seen one of those but thinking the LCD and glass are going to be fused.
I think the iPad mini's have little traps in them from Apple to prevent us from repairing them. I think the best guide for repairing the iPad mini is on a website called iPad rehab, google it , and using high quality screens with the copper edges and kapton tape and you will not have any issues.

Had a feeling they were not the same. Stopped repairing the Mini here a while ago mainly due to the lcd removal risk. Had 2 or 3 back then in one week, where I screwed up the lcd's on them, so I stopped repairing those. Thought I'd get back into doing the Mini again. Thanks!

no, ipad mini 1/2 is same digitizer but ipad mini 3 and mini 4 is different, ipad mini 3 you can change a digitizer by yourself easily, ipad mini 4 you can't, you normally need a lcd digitizer assembly for ipad mini 4, only if you are a refurbished factory have special cut glass tools then you can change ipad mini 4 digitizer.

Yes you can use iPad Mini 1/2 digitizer in iPad Mini 3 but you can’t use the touchID. The iPad Mini1/2 uses the same type and size of plug as the iPad Mini 3. I have tested it and works fine.
