Why is phone not starting after put on charging all night?

Was working fine last day, put on charging at night.

Next Morning - phone did not start at all.

I took out battery for some time and tried after some time. I could see samsung written on phone once, thought its fine but then again dead.

put on charging, tried again after some time. This time it showed charging and started.

Why did this happen, i charge my phone overnight evrytime and it never happened.

Charger light was on so nothing wrong with electicity supply.
