Hi,
My earphone plug on my MacBook Unibody Model A1278 is broken. When you plug earphones in, it does not click and thus falls out easily. Is there an easy way to fix this or will I have to replace the logic board? Otherwise can I desolder both the earphone and line-in plugs and swap the two?

I would just opt for a USB Sound card. They are pretty cheap and some have Line in Input for Mic or audio importing. Im sure someone with the right equipment and skill might be able to replace the headphone jack by re-soldering, but it is extremely difficult and risky.

Check the tip of the audio jack to see if you have broken the tip off in the receptacle You may be able to push the broken tip out from the back side. Also see this answer as you may have debris in the port preventing full insertion of the jack: Audio jack problem, no speaker sound, red light

you should take it to a qualified person who could replace it for you, the logic board is no joke in less you got 700 dollar laying around for a new. but if you know what your doing go for it, don't swap them just replace earplug plug. Let us know how that went. Good luck with that.
