Hey Chris,
If you see a battery that has a higher mAh then the original Samsung battery, then you should make sure that it is reliable.

-Be careful when shopping, I know that I've said that they might be potentially harmful but I said that through my experiences. I've bought three from amazon and one from eBay and they were not reliable. Make sure that you look at the reviews of the product if you are purchasing them.

Chris Ford, yes you absolutely can. There are no harmful consequences by using a battery with a higher mAh rating. As long as it fits properly and has the proper connectors. mAh is nothing more than a description of the total amount of energy a battery can store at one time. Since it will last longer, it will also take longer to be charged back to capacity. No other issues with it. Hope this helps, good luck.

There's nothing wrong with using a 3rd party battery, for years I have used an Anker 4400mAh battery for my Samsung Galaxy S3. I can't fault it whatsoever, it's been absolutely fantastic and to this day still holds charge well. I would recommend Anker, they're not the most expensive either but have always been reliable for me.
