My laptop is being unusually slow but I have no idea why. I've been running an Anti-Virus protection without any problems. I also make sure it is updating automatically. It just started recently and never had problems before. I've gotten no reports on any threats to my computer. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem?

i see this problem and i had same kind of issue long ago . just try few steps uninstall unwanted programs and junks . cut down some start up programs check to see if you run a virus cleaner and if possible upgrade the RAM and for any other help visit gateway http://us.gateway.com/gw/en/US/content/c... and let them fix this issue . try doing a update also that may help .

Carlos, check what applications are running in the background. Turn off all unnecessary software. You did not tell us which OS you are running so I can not give you concrete on how or what to turn off. You want to check your hard drive space. Make sure that the drive is not to full. Leave ~20% of free space. Use a defragmenter to defrag your drive. delete all your temp files and check your computers registry. There are multiple software solutions to that, but they are depending on your OS. Check your RAM, make sure that you have the right amount and are not running to much on the lean side. There are plenty of more things you should check on but we would need what OS you have. Hope this helps, good luck.

Check the applications you have installed in your laptop. A lot of applications take a lot of hard drive space. If you notice that you are running short on hard drive space, perhaps you might need to invest in a new one that would give you more memory space.

Also make sure u clean the computer of unnecessary files through disc cleanup and through the "run" option when u press the start button, unless u have windows 8 or other non windows iOSs, I don't know how they operate because I only work with windows xp and windows 7

you also need to tell us the o.s that you are using ? anyway this can be fixed in just simple steps remove unwanted programs , repair windows (disk clean up and update the windows ) check for virus for any other visit https://goo.gl/EF2U3O and let me know if you need any other help . thanks and welcome
