Will the display from the 2012 model work on my 2011?

My display on my 2011 13'' Macbook Air has a cable issue which makes the display unstable. My friend just spilled beer on her 2012 Air and wrecked everything except the display (which was tested and found to be fully functional). The displays of both of these models have different part numbers, but I'm hoping that taking her 2012 display and attaching it to my 2011 module will work. Are they compatible? (I have only found some brief, unclear answers about this - some yes, some no).
