mark, open the control box, remove the foot of broken wires and resolder the longer part back onto the control box PCB. When you unsolder the cable from the control box, mark down the color code to each solder connection. That way you get the cables right. Take pictures and make a guide for the rest of us:-) Hope this helps, good luck

what is the colour code?

Starting from the chat and game nobs to the left the color scheme goes....green(L), Red(R), Gold/Green(M+), Blue(V+), Large Gold Wire goes into the last solder point.

Do you know which of these [green(L), Red(R), Gold/Green(M+), Blue(V+)] go into a standar Type A USB conector [Ground, D+, D-, Vcc]?

I need help fixing this too. My USB cable connection has been busted and now I need to make a new connection onto the control unit to send power into the headset. I am planning to use a standard USB cable with positive and negative conmections.

I figured I should chime in on this topic. I had a handful of customers bring me these and most of them are the same song and dance.

Here are the colors of the wires on the control module. Please keep in mind that all the stray ground wires, including the USB - are all tied together. If you miss any of the other grounds the audio and/or mic will not work.

In case you are curious, the strain relief is reusable if you are careful. A pair of pliers and 1/8” drill bit will be helpful. I will literally use my hand to manually “hand drill” the remainder bit of the cable jacket out until it is free enough to pull with pliers. Never use any sort of power drill or actual hand drills as the torque will literally tear these apart at the slightest snag. To get the wire back in, a bit of isopropyl or a very small dab of cooking oil will work, other lubricants may contain solvents that can eat away the jacket over time.
