Is the headphone jack the same on a 3g and 3gs?

I recently acquired a 3GS with a smashed case, but after seeing the cases are both the same, I swapped the logic board and dock connector into the 3g case. Now neither the headphone jack or cellular phone work. No cell reception. Both cables look identical but are they?
