i put my ipod into disk mode, still show the red x inside the circle, also tried the select+play for 6 seconds still the red circle with x... what is my ipod problem??? hardware or logic board???

laidie81, place your iPod into diagnostics mode and run the tests. Here are some great instructions and explanations. Right now it sounds like a bad hard drive. If you find that the diagnostics confirms this, use these guides to work on your iPod. Hope this helps, good luck.
