Hi joe,
Your graphic card unit on the motherboard (integrated) still works. That is a good sign. So, its seems that you need to replace the LED LCD unit.
If the notebook is no longer under guarantee, I would give it a try and invest in a new LED LCD unit. You find one here or here for around $50.

joe, make sure that it is not just your backlight that is out. Shine a light at an angle against the screen with your OS displaying something like the Desktop etc. If it is your backlight, you will most likely only need the inverter. Also check your cables, make sure those are still connected properly. Hope this helps, good luck.
