I just recently purchased a 750 GB 7200 RPM Seagate SATA drive to originally replace the drive in a Macbook Pro 13" Unibody Mid 2009 laptop. Then just a couple of days ago, I was given an old 17" Macbook Pro non-unibody. So now, I want to use the new hard drive in the older laptop! I was wondering, will this hard drive fit in the old 17" Macbook Pro?

Without knowing the exact specs of the drive I can only say that "If the drive would physically fit into the 13" unibody MacBook Pro you purchased it for, then it should work in your 17" non-unibody MacBook Pro."
Physically speaking the 13" MacBook Pro has less physical space for a hard drive than the older 17" MacBook Pro, so space shouldn't be a concern. Both use SATA connections so connecting it will be identical to connecting the original hard drive. The only issue you may run into is the drive may perform slower than expected. The SATA interface is backwards compatible but a newer SATA 6 Gbit/s or SATA 3 Gbit/s will only perform at the system's original speed of SATA 1.5 Gbit/s, basically it's only as fast as the slowest link. This will be transparent to you as long as you aren't expecting speed gains by installing a hard drive with a newer/faster SATA connection.
You should be able to remove the old hard drive, transfer the rubber grommets & mounting screws over to the new drive, install it in the machine and be ready to install an OS.

It might, but you'l need to tell us who's 750 GB HD you have and the model number. Depending on what you have you may need to set a jumper as the older systems can't support some of the higher speed HD's (SATA II Vs SATA III)
