alessandro, it does sound like a lens error. Possibly a bad CCD sensor. There are plenty of ribbon cables on this camera and you will have to disassemble your camera and check those. Check especially for corrosion. The lens unit for this camera is very hard to find, but it does sound like it needs replacing. Again, disassemble, check the wiring, check the connectors.

when you take a picture, does it turn out black? Does your camera give you any error message? Can you download the pictures from your camera? Right now, it sounds like either a CCD sensor error or an Iris error.
