While running, the Roomba does not respond to bumping into things.

The robot is continuously running into walls and furniture without detecting the wall/furniture correcting its path.

Faulty front bumper:

If the front bumper is not working correctly the Roomba will not turn when it hits a wall.

When moving, the Roomba spins in circles or does not move at all.

When powered on and moving around the Roomba does not effectively clean because it seems to be moving in circles or is not moving at all.

One or both wheels have stopped turning:

This can happen if there is dirt or material in the wheels that would stop them from turning effectively or could keep them from turning at all. This is simple to do yourself, just turn the Roomba upside down and turn the wheels by hand if it feels or looks like there is a foreign object in the wheels try using a toothpick to remove it.

Faulty spring that holds the wheel down to the ground:

While the Roomba is on the floor. If this spring is broken it will not put pressure down towards the ground, therefore keeping the Roomba off the ground. We have a guide specifically for replacing the wheel.

The Roomba does not power on.

When the Roomba is not responding or not working after pressing the power button.

It is not charged:

The simplest issue that would cause this is a lack of charge. Attempt docking the Roomba on its charger manually such that the metal contacts on its bottom edge sit on the matching contacts on the dock. If all else is well the charging light should come on and your Roomba will work properly after some time to fully charge.

Dirty charging contacts:

If your Roomba is docked properly and still not charging, the contacts may be dirty. Flip your Roomba over and find the contacts under the front edge. Use a cloth, preferably a microfiber cloth, and a little bit of rubbing alcohol (or water if you don’t have any) to wipe the contacts clear of any build-up. You should go over to the dock and follow the same procedure on its pair of contacts. Once you’ve effectively cleaned the contacts on both make sure they are dry and attempt docking the Roomba manually. If all else is well the charging light should come on and your Roomba will work properly after some time to fully charge.

Faulty Battery:

If the above solutions don’t help, the battery is faulty or there is something more complicated going on with your Roomba. Follow our guide to replace the battery here.

When cleaning the Roomba does not effectively pick up dirt and debris.

The Roomba is moving around normally but it is not cleaning.

The Filter is full or clogged:

If the Roomba is not picking up much, or anything at all, it may be that the filter is full or partially clogged. You can follow this guide to replace or clean your Roomba’s filter.

Roller Brush is no longer turning:

If the roller brushes on the underneath of the Roomba are not turning it will no longer be able to pick up dirt and debris. It will instead push it around like a vacuum that does not suck. To fix or replace your roller brushes there’s a guide to help you.

Sweeping Brush is not spinning:

The spinning brush not spinning will not stop the Roomba from working or cleaning, it just will not do as good a job. It is easy to notice because the spinning reaches outside of the device and can be seen while the Roomba is on and working. To Replace or fix the spinning brush to keep your Roomba working perfectly follow this guide.

When cleaning the Roomba’s sweeping brush does not spin.

The Roomba is moving around but the brush remains idle while powered on.

The brush is clogged:

If the sweeping brush fails to spin assure that the brush and its general area are clean of any debris such as tangled hair and large objects.

Broken/faulty belt or knob:

Disassemble the iRobot to reach the roller brush area. Diagnose whether the belt/knob has any deformations such as kinks, tears or is completely missing. Replace the defective part with a new piece by following this guide and then attempt to run the Roomba.

I can’t get mine to do anything when I push the Home (or, rather, “Dock”) and Spot buttons. :/
